Making A Positive Impact

Our mission is to encourage individuals and the community to make positive changes in their lives. Here are some of our success stories.

Encouragement House

Encouragement House(EH) provides safe, secure and supervised dormitory accommodation for remote rural students, so they can attend high school.

EH teaches many aspects of life skills including better health, basic computing, organised sports, music and confidence building to prepare students from small rural villages to enter this fast-changing modern world. Many Timorese students from Encouragement House have continued to tertiary studies leading to exciting job opportunities.

Encouragement Foundation Co-Founder John Shadforth, has been an integral part of the success of Encouragement House with his fundraising efforts and commitment to making a difference.

"I am writing to thank you for your financial contribution towards my HPSA bursary. I have moved to the Sunshine Coast from Hobart and am currently undertaking a Bachelor of Nursing Science. This degree will hopefully allow me to become a registered nurse anywhere in the country. I am currently in my second year of study and will have over 240 hours of clinical placement to complete over the year. I look forward to continuing my studies alongside competing in Surf Life Saving and water-polo. This season the Australian Titles for Surf Life Saving are being held at Scarborough in Western Australia so your generous donation will be used to help me pay for my travelling and accommodation at this event. This season I am competing in the U/23 division for the surf boat rowing events and my crew and I are hoping that we can place first at the Australian Titles. I am also playing water-polo this year for the Sunshine Coast in the Premiere League which is an open age group league with many high-profile players from around the state participating in it. Earlier in the year I represented Queensland at the Country Water-polo Championships held in Canberra which was a wonderful experience from which I gained many new skills from. Once again, I would like to sincerely thank you for your donation as this will be a huge help in assisting me to travel to Scarborough this season for the Surf Life Saving Australian Titles."
