The Timor Encouragement House will provide 7 villages in Timor with educational support to assist families break the poverty cycle. Boys in rural Timor are expected to work on the land from the age of 12, while girls as young as 14 have already become wives and mothers. Funding a child to get high school education is out of reach for rural farmers and the closest educational facility is a rough track walk which takes 6-7 hours one way.
Land Purchase

A suitable tract of land has been found large enough to provide ample room for future growth of the hostel. Extensive vegetable gardens and orchards will also be planted to provide extra food for the children. Lolotoe children are experienced gardeners and will maintain the food gardens.

A well will also be dug within the grounds so fresh water can be provided at all times.
The Hostel

This project will see the building of 3 Encouragement Houses that will house 120 Lolotoe children from rural backgrounds. Two caretaker homes will also be built to provide supervision, security and support.
